SciFi and Fantasy Art: Gorgon Colour Version

Ok I promised info with this pic... He is the son of one of medusa's sisters, after some poor bloke got a bit drunk one night. He was never seen again (ran away) (and probably got eaten) (he deserved it). He can’t turn people to stone but the snakes are poisonous, and if you annoy him he will wrap round you and squeeze the life out through your throat (with most your intestinal tract) He generally eats small warm blooded animals (whole) which scares most people. He can also speak to snakes (forked tongue) He is classed as a gorgon rather than a Naga because of the snakes for hair May end up writing a story with him as a character….*thinks*

He is probably related to Kekrops, the halfman-half snake king of ancient Athens. I'm sure that Kekrops and the Gorgons were distant relatives... Can't remember any more details though...

22 Mitchell Raymond replies: "weren't they the NAGA or something..."

Dunno really... I've never heard of the Nagas, but I do know the myth of Kekrops...He was a really wise and noble king that ruled Athens before it was named Athens, etc, etc. I believe he was the only half snake/half man in Gk mythology, perhaps the nagas are from other mythologies...

13 Mitchell Raymond replies: "possably, but you should really look them up as they are really cool!!!"

Wow amazing colors! I love how he looks snake like! and his hair is soooo fun looking!! i want little snake in my hair!!

Can anyone get me a link to a snake man myth site? I like drawing the nagas and half snake men and various other things with tails that are usually male and half nude but sadly i have no idea where to look. I have a dungeons and dragons book though and that does kinda help (no..I don't play the game...Its used strictly for drawing reference) but not nearly enough.

oh yeah! ::yanks tail and snake guy falls over and out window thing...drags him away:: hes mine too!

16 Mitchell Raymond replies: "NNNNnnnnOoooOooo he is MINE!!!! and if you look round elfwood you can find quite a few...i always find them harder to draw than normal people.."

Although there are no male gorgons in classic Greek myth that I'm aware of the concept of one is interesting. Maybe you could write a story based on this idea.

Maybe you could say that this gorgon man was Medusa's only son before Perseus beheaded her.

22 Mitchell Raymond replies: "I was thinking that he could be one of medusa's sisters sons...I am sure that i wrote this down somewhere...oh well all ideas are welcome along with interpritations"

Ha ha. He looks like he's thumbing his nose at us. love the tiny details, like the scales. And the snake pattern is cool to. Most people would just leave the snake bits a solid color, it's good to see variety. The stained glass window thingie in the background is really cool to.

13 Mitchell Raymond replies: "thanx again for the fantasticly glowwing comment, bwe he he he he he he he"
